Hey wine fans! Last friday’s event was Strange Wines, Newer Friends. This was probably one of the most enjoyable events we have had. The concept of the evening was to taste wines made from strange or unusual grapes and regions of the world. When I think of wines, I think of regions of the world such as South America, California, France, etc. I was very surprised to learn of some of the locations of the wines we were sampling – Greece, Hungary, South Africa, etc.
I enjoyed nearly all of these wines and found each one to be unique, which was the idea. All of them had tastes like I have never had in wines before – although I am still new to wines. As usual, I learned a lot from the people attending. It was also interesting to see that some of the attendees did not seem to know a lot about wine. It was a really good experience to learn about some unusual wines with people who were also new to wine tasting.
As the week goes on, I’m going to discuss what I thought about each wine and what I smelled and tasted. Please visit the blog later this week because some of these wines were absolutely amazing! It’s unfortunate that these wines are perceived as strange, because these are wines that everybody should have the opportunity to try.
