Blind Pinot Noir Tasting

Last Friday’s event was a blind tasting of 6 Pinot Noir wines from all over the world. I’ve tasted Pinot Noir before, and it was at a time when I was only used to white wines. I remember not liking red wines because they tasted too dry, but Pinot Noir was an exception. This event was really exciting because it gave me a chance to revisit one of the first red wines I enjoyed.

The tasting was quite interesting, mainly because I have been exposed to other red wines since working here. The Pinots were good wines, but I felt like some of them were not very flavorful. But overall, it was a very fun night. I had a really great time discussing the wines with some of the people attending the event and even learned a lot from what they had to say.

I really like the idea of a blind tasting. Being an advertising major and seeing purchasing patterns of wines, I know how consumers can be easily swayed by a well-designed bottle or by price. This event took all aspects of marketing and promotion away and made the attendees select their favorite based only on taste – and smell. Unfortunately, I managed to pick the most expensive bottle as my favorite – not surprising! As the week goes by, I will go into detail about each wine I tasted so please visit again!
