Hands Cabernet Sauvignon – from the wine virgin

One of my favorite wines from the Strange Wines event was from South Africa. Actually, scratch that – this probably was my favorite wine from the night hands down – no pun intended. Hands Cabernet Sauvignon was a very enjoyable Cab. Not only was it the best Cab I have had, but possibly one of the best red wines period.

With a lot of Cabernets, I have noticed they smell and taste peppery or sweet. The smell of Hands was the perfect blend of both. The taste was absolutely smooth and light – incredibly drinkable. However, it wasn’t drinkable to the point where taste was sacrificed. As it went down, it was incredibly balanced and extremely flavorful of sweet pepper and powerful berries. When paired with wasabi covered almonds, the taste exploded on the tongue and was amplified.

Some of the Cabs I have tasted in the past have been too peppery, but this one tasted absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this red wine to newcomers of wine, or anyone who is looking for an amazing Cabernet! This will definitely be my next purchase from the shop.
