bauer haus dornfelder – from the wine virgin

Bauer Haus Dornfelder is a sweet red wine from Germany. And the term sweet is not used lightly. The color was very light and red in color, looking much like a fruit punch juice. It smelled really sweet and was matched in the taste. As soon as I drank this wine and swallowed, the taste was gone. It was very short and sweet.

The taste reminded me of candy, or grape juice. It was drinkable, but almost sweeter than grape juice. It was as if the grape was overshadowed by a fruity, candy taste. This wine was popular among a lot of attendees who were not familiar with wine because of it being so drinkable. Unfortunately, I didn’t see this wine as being too complex. Yes, it was very tasty and sweet – but the aftertaste was almost non-existant. Compared to the Nugan Estate, which was also sweet (but in a velvety, cocoa way), this wine didn’t win in deliciousness. Nevertheless, it was still an interesting wine to try. Most wines I would not think would be this sweet unless they are sparkling.
