royal tokaji – from the wine virgin

Royal Tokaji was a delicious and expensive dessert wine that closed the evening’s event. Royal is a dessert wine from Hungary. The wine smelled of honey and citrus – incredibly sweet! It smelled absolutely delicious. The taste was not disappointing. The taste was an almost syrupy mixture of orange and lemon zest and honey. I’ve never had a wine this sweet. While the previous wine, Bauer Haus Dornfelder, was sweet, this one was much more concentrated in sweetness.

This concentrated wine did make sipping necessary. This does not seem like a wine that should be tasted quickly. It reminded me almost of a hot lemon green tea I drink – but enhanced with syrup. This was an extremely interesting wine to try and made a good end to a fantastic evening of wines.

This event was amazing because it taught me, and a lot of other people, that there is so much more out there in the world of wines. This is why the events at Christopher’s Wine & Cheese are so much fun. If you haven’t attended one yet, and you are reading this, you definitely should! Visit Christopherswineandcheese.com for a list of events and dates. And check back for my review of future wines and events!
