Valentine’s Day Cooking Class – from the wine virgin

This past friday’s event was a cooking class. But it wasn’t just any cooking class – it was chocolate themed! At first thought, a wine and chocolate cooking class sounds like we would be tasting chocolate with our wines. We were tasting chocolate, but it was not as a dessert, it was as a spice.

Some of the foods we tried were hazelnut and leek soup, chocolate steak and asparagus fajitas, chocolate fried shrimp and grits, and cream cheese, chocolate, and avocado pastry cups with crab. All of these wonderful and interesting concoctions were paired with some fantastic wines. The types of wines and the different tastes produced when paired with the foods were quite abundant. Check back later in the week for some detailed descriptions of what I thought about each wine – and the food!
