Napa Cellars Dyer Vineyard Carreros Syrah – from the wine virgin

Currently, one of my favorite wines is Syrah. I feel it is really smooth, yet complex in flavor. At the Valentine’s cooking class, we tried a Napa Cellards Dyer Vineyard Carreros Syrah. I have been trying a lot of Syrahs lately, and this is definitely one of the better ones. The smell was heavenly. It was a very dark and rich aroma of sweet pepper and dark berries. I enjoyed smelling it so much I almost forgot to taste it.

This was one of the first wines I have tried out of an air filter, so it was interesting to taste it. It did taste less “tight” than some red wines I have had. This syrah went extremely well with the chocolate shrimp and grits. It did an incredible job at bringing out the cocoa and pepper in the shrimp. The taste almost danced on my tongue, but it was still smooth and flavorful.
