Scott Harvey Zinfandel – from the wine virgin

Scott Harvey Zinfandel was very similar in taste to the Amano Zinfandel. One distinct difference was in the smell. This wine had a very forward earthy smell. The earthiness wasn’t as evident in the taste. It was a bit spicier than the first, and had a hint of clove perhaps.

Even though this wine was not quite as sweet as the first, it was nicely balanced in my opinion. The flavors exploded a bit, but not to the point where it is overpowering. If choosing a light Zinfandel, I would say the Amano was a tad lighter. However, this one had a bit more of a punch in flavor and complexity, so it ultimately depends on what a wine drinker is looking for. I thought both had great aspects and so far my first Zinfandel tasting experience was going quite nicely.

This wine is from a 40 year old vineyard. It’s a crowd pleaser as you described. It has all the components a zinfandel lover is looking for.

We’ve been carrying this for about a year and half now, it’s been a good seller – especially at that price point!
