Capion 1C white wine – from the wine virgin

The first blend of the night was a white wine called Capion 1C. This was a blend of Chardonnay, Roussanne, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. One thing I did learn from the evening is that I didn’t know as many grapes as I thought I did. There are a lot of grapes that I am still not aware of and need to try.

Capion 1C’s dominant grape was Chardonnay to me. There was a hint of butter in the scent and taste. It was just a tad sour, yet not acidic. The buttery and creaminess was evident, but not overpowering. And thankfully, it wasn’t too acidic or harsh in the finishing. I feel l like the balance was pretty good, the sourness of the wine and the sweetness worked well together. Besides the creaminess of this wine, I would say the tastes of apple and citrus were there. This was a blend, but it did taste like a Chardonnay – which was the dominant grape. It’s interesting to see how a blend can taste like the dominant grape, but still have interesting aspects from other grapes. A good wine, but there were definitely more interesting ones as the night went on.
