airlie 7 white blend – from the wine virgin

The second white wine blend was Airlie 7, which is a blend of 7 grapes which include: Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot gris, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot blanc and Auxerrois. This wine had to grow on me a little bit, which could be due to the complexity of the flavors since there are 7 different grapes.

The smell is a little sour and musky, but sweet. So at first I was taken off guard. I usually like to judge what a wine will taste like by the smell, but the scent was so conflicting that I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. The sour and sweetness was balanced much like the Capion, but a hint of lemon zest and honey was also there. It was a smooth wine, yet still complex because of the all the grapes. I would like to taste this one again just to allow it to grow on me more, but I didn’t dislike it.
