4 Vines old vine Zinfandel – The Wine Virgin

The second course of our meal was the bitter greens (chard). This old vine Zinfandel was one of the most interesting wines I’ve tasted. The fact that the grape vines are so old gives the wine such a deep warm flavor. The aroma was light and sweet, but the first sip caught me off guard. It had an immediate bite that was followed by a warm peppery spice, which coupled well with the greens. It pops at the front of the tongue and leaves this really great warmth. I’m not too familiar with tannins, but I have a suspicion that is where this warmth is coming from. It was not a balanced flavor, but it was definitely something I’d like to have again! This was unique to my palate and I definitely recommend the 4 Vines Old Vine Zinfandel!
