Wine: Steeple Jack Shiraz

Steeple Jack Shiraz

Steeple Jack Shiraz

In the economic times we are all working through trying to survive, there is a demand for high quality wines at and extraordinary value in the market place. I am fortunate to be in a position to try a multitude of new products on a fairly consistent basis with the full knowledge that the next great discovery is just around the next row of grapes.

Recently, I was exposed to a new line of Australian Wines, The Ballast Stone Estates and the Shaw Family. The Shaw family is meticulous with their vineyard site selection and has established vineyards of ultra premium quality that are located in two renowned South Australia wine-grape growing districts, McLaren Vale and Currency Creek.

They Produce four tiers of wine, including a line called Steeple Jack. They refer to the Steeple Jack Wines as indicative as they represent the varietal true and are approachable in the market place as an economic wonder. This week, I tried the shiraz for the first time and found it wonderfully spicy and sumptuous. With deep ruby red colors.  Blackberry/stewed plum fruit with hints of mocha and lifted vanillin on the nose; a full, soft fleshy palate driven by boysenberry, cassis, cinnamon spice and a touch of white pepper leading to a smooth velvety lingering finish.

This beautiful wine comes to our customers under $10.00 a bottle consistently. This time and point, it is made available for $8.99 through our website. Enjoy, and do so without feeling guilty because you are not spending your entire week’s pay to drink just as much of this fine wine as you desire!
